Hernon Manufacturing Leases Additional Manufacturing Space Due to Rapid Growth

Adhesive, sealant and dispensing equipment company leases additional 3000 square feet while awaiting construction of new facility

Sanford, FL., – Hernon Manufacturing, the innovator in adhesive and sealing technologies, recently announced it has leased an additional 3,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space to facilitate its rapid growth.

Currently, Hernon is housed in a 27,000 square-foot facility in which they produce over 5,000 high performance adhesives and sealant products as well as manufacture precision dispensing equipment.

In October, Hernon announced its plans to hire 5 to 10 additional employees as well as build and expand into a 67,000 square-foot plant by year end 2013. The new building and equipment will enable the company to triple its production capacity.

“We’re growing too fast to wait for the construction of our new manufacturing plant,” said Harry Arnon, CEO of Hernon Manufacturing. “This additional space is a stop-gap to give us some more elbow room while our new facility is constructed.”

In addition to receiving a large dispensing equipment order earlier in the month, Hernon Manufacturing also recently announced a new Florida distributor, Miller Bearings. This new distributorship is expected to enhance product awareness as well as increase orders for adhesives, sealants and dispensing equipment.

Not Just Adhesives & Dispensing Equipment

Hernon Manufacturing has a philosophy that differs from other adhesive and sealant suppliers. Hernon believes in offering an assembly solution versus just selling an adhesive or sealant. We call it single source responsibility. Our equipment engineers work closely with our chemists to desing systems that work effectively together. Many times problems in production environments are blamed back-and-forth between the adhesive/sealant supplier and the dispenser provider. Single source responsibility eliminates this finger pointing by providing a holistic approach to your assembly situation.

In addition to manufacturing over 400 grades of high performance military and industrial grade adhesives, sealants, and coatings Hernon also offers a wide range of solutions from custom turnkey assembly workstations to simple tabletop dispensers. Hernon’s complete assembly workstation can handle component feeding, adhesive/sealant application, curing, and assembly. Your unique assembly requirements will be addressed by a team of engineers from concept to on site setup and training.

Hernon Offers Replacement Parts and Components

Hernon also offers components such as pressure reservoirs, dispensing valves, feed line tubing, and much more. Each is built of the highest quality materials and designed for long service cycles.

Adhesive-Based Process Seals Logos Onto Bullets

Hernon Ammo Sealing

Hernon Manufacturing has developed an adhesive-based process for putting a logo or other identifying mark on bullets.

The process could be used for purely aesthetic purposes or to differentiate training rounds from live rounds. Unlike a paint or coating, the adhesive will not flake off and will not affect the bullet’s ballistic performance.

Hernon Ammo Sealing

The process can be done in one or two stages.

In the two-stage process, a logo or other identifying marker is inserted into a well or hole in the projectile’s tip. The marker can be easily produced using commercial-grade paper, ink and printing processes.

Once the marker has been inserted, a clear, UV-curing adhesive is injected into the well to seal the marker in place. After dispensing, the cartridge is passed under a high-intensity UV light for curing.

In the single-stage process, a separate marker is not used. Instead, a colored UV-curing adhesive is injected into the well. The adhesive can be dyed almost any color.

Doming of the projectile tip is easily achieved during dispensing. However, if a pointed tip is desired, the sealant can be applied through a mold.

Different Types of Adhesives

Different Types of Adhesives

An adhesive is a compound that adheres or bonds two items together. There are many sources and types of adhesive which are commonly divided into the following categories:

Drying Adhesives

Glues and rubber cements are members of this family. As the solvent evaporates, the adhesive hardens. These adhesives are typically weak and are used for household applications.

Hot Adhesives

Popular for crafts, these adhesives are used in a wide range of applications adhering common materials. They are applied hot and simply allowed to harden as they cool.

Reactive Adhesives

Reactive adhesives generally come in two separate containers and are mixed immediately before application causing polymerization which solidifies the adhesive.

Temporary Adhesives

Temporary adhesives, commonly used on paper as in bookmarks and office supplies, have a low adhesion and are designed to repeatedly or easily stick and unstick.

Private Label Adhesives

Hernon Manufacturing is your complete solution for all of your private label adhesive needs.
